Was in der Nacht vom 19. September 1992 mit 300 Besuchern auf dem alten Dampfschiff «Stadt Luzern» erstmals stattfand, ist heute eine wahre Perle. Das Blue Balls Festival ist mit 100'000 Besuchern eines der grössten Musik-Festivals der Schweiz, qualitativ herausragend und wohl das attraktivste. Das Ambiente rund um das Luzerner Seebecken mit dem KKL, dem Pavillon Open-Air und den Late Night Shows im Hotel Schweizerhof machen es einzigartig. Das internationale Festival präsentiert vom 23.–31. Juli 2010 über 100 Events: Blues-, Jazz-, Soul-, Funk-, World-, Rock- und Pop-Konzerte, Musik-Fotografie, -Videos und Street Art. The Blue Balls Festival is probably the most attractive Summer Music Festival in Switzerland with more than 100,000 visitors over nine days. Beautifully situated along the shores of Lake Lucerne, the festival is known for presenting internationally acclaimed artists in an intimate atmosphere at the Lucerne Culture and Convention Center. Apart from these shows, each of the nine festival days also offers a chance to discover new talents on the 5 outdoor stages around the lake. The festival presents a total of 100 shows, with international Blues, Jazz, Soul, Funk, World Music, Rock and Pop acts as well as exclusive exhibitions of renowned photographers from the world of music, a video-lounge and street art action painting.
